Have at least a 2.5 GPA in the four core classes (English, Math, Science and Social Studies) on the most recent report card.

Level 3 or higher in both FAST/EOC Math and FAST Reading from the previous school year for Progress Monitoring 3 (PM3). 

If the FSA is not available, at least 50th percentile in Math and Reading on most nationally recognized standardized test will be accepted.

*NOTE: For some technical programs, additional criteria must be met.

The program entrance criteria is a level 3 or higher on state testing from the previous school year and a 2.5 Grade Point Average in the current school year on academic courses.

If more applications are received than seats available, the school choice office will hold a random selection from the eligible applicants. Students who meet all criteria and are not accepted in the random selection will be placed in the wait pool. Random selections will take place until all seats are filled, or the pool of eligible applicants is empty. 

Each technical program has a limit of seats. Additional criteria may need to be met.

Transportation is provided by The Broward County School District to Magnet Schools for Magnet students who reside more than 2 miles from the school based on Magnet Transportation Zones. The Transportation Zone for McFatter Technical High School is south of Sunrise Boulevard to North of the Miami-Dade County line. 

William T. McFatter Technical High School is a MAGNET ONLY high school. You may apply for to attend through the School Choice Department during an open window through https://browardschools.com/schoolchoice and be selected through the random selection process.

Students must meet entrance requirements as set by school board policy and be chosen through the random selection process. Applications cannot be accepted directly at McFatter for admission. 

Before completing a magnet application, you will need to ensure that your child has a student identification number with Broward County Public Schools. You may secure the identification number from your child's home boundary school or any Broward County Public School.

There are multiple components to get admitted to McFatter Tech. First, students must meet magnet policy criteria of a level 3 on FSA BEST PM3/ EOC testing in the previous school year and have a 2.5 GPA on academic (language arts, mathematics, science and social studies) classes for the current school year.
Once criteria is met, eligible students are entered into a wait pool (If more students apply than there are available seats.) Random selection is conducted by the district at scheduled intervals (found at https://browardschools.com/schoolchoice) until the seats are filled. The last set of names will be selected on by the tenth day of school.

No. You must register at the school following acceptance into the Magnet Program. The Office of School Choice sends acceptance letters to designated students, indicating a designated registration period. All students must register during that time period to guarantee a spot in the program.

Current magnet students do not need to apply in order to remain in their present magnet school. However, magnet students are expected to maintain a 2.5 grade point average and follow all district policies to maintain enrollment in the magnet program. 

No, you will need to create a FOCUS parent portal and upload any necessary documentation. It it is YOUR responsibility to guarantee that your child's application is submitted online to the Office of School Choice by the deadline date.

Your student's application status should reflect that they are in the WAIT POOL. This is not a denial of admission. They are simply amongst the group of students waiting to see if additional seats become available. Students who are in the ON TIME wait pool have priority to those who apply in the LATE WINDOW. The school has limited space available and random selections will take place until the 10th day of the school year if seats are vacated. 

Students are offered opportunities to explore the technical areas in grades 9 and 10. Students will begin their technical area of study in grade 11 and will continue through grade 12.
